(un)Monument(al) project - Earth's Image:

Description:
We all tend to forget the world we are a part of. "Earth's Image" is a monument designed to give us a chance to reflect and remember where we all come from. The planet we call home is delicate and every action we take effects it in some way. The monument is to be made up of stone or rock boulders. Each with a face sliced and made reflective and polished. Rocks will be hovering in the air with these polished faces as well. People walking amongst the stones will be
able to see themselves in multiple reflective surfaces, a part of the Earth itself. Giving us a chance to step back from our daily schedules and remember:
We are all a part of something greater. Each and every one of us.

Sketches:
EarthsImage1.jpg
Original Sketch: more of a circular pattern to the rock faces and a larger space in between.
EarthsImage2.jpg
More of a clustered orientation for the rock faces. Floating rocks would be closer as well.
EarthsImage3.jpg
This is the design I chose to go with. Spacious but not too spacious. Rocks are arranged in a
more randomized pattern as well. The rocks also range from small to large in a more natural way.
EarthsImage4.jpg
Focused more on taller rocks in this sketch. After studying it I decided not to choose this one as
it would have too much of an overbearing presence.
EarthsImage5.jpg
I would have chosen this sketch but after looking at it for a while it didn't seem to have very
defining features. It worked in space, range of rocks and sizes but none of them were eye-catching.
